Container City Kickstarter Wrap-Up

The Container City Kickstarter has officially wrapped up, and it ended up going considerably further than I originally expected.

How Container City Ended Up at 430+ Files

The campaign ended in August and unlocked a huge number of stretch goals, including several that I genuinely was not sure we would reach. The files have started being sent to backers, allowing people to start printing. Naturally, that also encouraged me to keep adding a few more things along the way.

The result is that Container City has grown into a much larger terrain collection than I originally planned, which is a very good problem to have.

As it stands, the collection now runs to 437 STL files, covering containers, hab blocks, interiors, industrial storage tanks, walkways, towers and a good deal of scatter terrain. With more still to be added…

Work Continues on the Stretch Goals

My original plan was to complete every stretch goal before making Container City generally available.

In practice, that is taking longer than I intended. The following stretch goals have been released so far:

The latest stretch goal, which I’m announcing now is the Utility Platforms, allowing you to create some raised half-height areas to fight over.

There is simply a lot of terrain to work through, and I have also developed the unfortunate habit of adding extra models, variants and improvements whenever I think they will make the collection better.

Rather than rushing through everything just to get it finished, I would much rather give each set the attention it needs.

Files are continuing to be updated, completed and released to Kickstarter backers as they are ready. A substantial amount of Container City is already available, with more being added steadily.

Printing the Files

For anyone printing now, everything is designed for FDM and is support-free. The models are scaled for 28–32mm gaming, print at 0.2mm layer height with 10–15% infill, and every piece is sized to fit a 180 × 180mm bed. I’d also recommend a gyroid infill if your slicer software has the option.

If you are printing straight from the Kickstarter files, nothing needs slicing differently as new packs land. The settings above hold across the whole collection.

Container City Is Still Growing

What began as a modular container terrain set has grown into a considerably larger collection of buildings, scatter terrain, walkways, towers, interiors, industrial structures and plenty of other pieces for building dense skirmish gaming tables.

There is still more to come.

For now, I am continuing to work through the remaining Kickstarter releases while getting the Founders Collection ready for anyone who missed the original campaign.

If you missed the Kickstarter, the Container City Founders Collection is now available. It includes everything released so far and everything still to come, added to your account as each pack is finished.
